A decomposition and decoupling analysis for carbon dioxide emissions: evidence from OECD countries

چکیده
Abstract Despite the huge difference in their climatic regimes, OECD countries are among world’s largest energy consumers and emitters of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide. Nonetheless, no studies have been conducted to decompose decouple long-term influential primary factors emissions for these countries. In this research, Log Mean Divisia Method I is used inspect contribution several influencing fill knowledge gap. Moreover, Tapio (Transp Policy 12(2):137–151, 2005) decomposition analysis (DA) performed investigate driving forces CO 2 over 1990–2019 years. The study provides an in-depth how reduce that contribute variation, which crucial both global regional climate change policies. DA shows that, up 2004, activity effect population drove increase; while, more recent years, was able curb emissions. Decoupling show prevalence expansive negative decoupling regime 1990–2004 2015–2019 periods, while were strong phase central period (2005–2009). According results, further efforts increase efficiency, political support digitalization decentralized systems, setting a unique emission trading system recommended air pollution reduction.

Decoupling and Decomposition Analysis of Carbon Emissions from Industry: A Case Study from China
China has overtaken the United States as the world’s largest producer of carbon dioxide, with industrial carbon emissions (ICE) accounting for approximately 65% of the country’s total emissions. Understanding the ICE decoupling patterns and factors influencing the decoupling status is a prerequisite for balancing economic growth and carbon emissions. This paper provides an overview of ICE based...
متن کاملEvidence from OECD Countries
In this paper we use a representative consumer model to analyse the equilibrium relation between the transitory deviations from the common trend among consumption, aggregate wealth, and labour income, cay, and focus on the implications for both stock returns and housing returns. The evidence based on data for 15 OECD countries shows that when agents expect future stock returns to be higher, the...

This paper provides an empirical analysis of CO2 emissions and economic growth, based on a panel dataset covering 93 countries over the period 1960-2008, and examines the challenge of country selection for homogenous and appropriates groups. Foremost, we have proposed a no parametric hierarchic clustering approach, based on 17 criteria and used the Hierarchical Clustering on Principal Component...
متن کاملDecoupling and Decomposition Analysis of Carbon Emissions from Electric Output in the United States
The rapid growth of the electricity sector in the United States has been accompanied by a dramatic rise in CO2 emissions. To understand the driving effects that contribute to the increase in CO2 emissions during electricity generation, as well as the relationship between the emissions and electricity output, a novel decoupling index on the basis of the multilevel logarithmic mean divisia index ...

A large number of decomposition methods have been 9 proposed till date. However, there is still no consensus regarding the best decomposition 10 method because each method has certain advantages and disadvantages. Which method is 11 valid for the decomposition ...
